surrender.

Here is a song that I wrote with Andy Platts  - lead singer of Mamma's Gun (they are really great - you should check them out).

The song is called "Surrender". I wrote it about someone who I really love but who is unable to open up and express how they are feeling.

Let me know your thoughts.

vintage.

 Top: Vintage
Jeans: Zara
Hat: Vintage
Wedges: Zara

I borrowed this cardigan from one of my best friends Jenny. She found it in a vintage store a few months back. With colour blocking key for AW11, I love this  right on trend cardi.

Teamed with skinny leather trousers, wedges and my vintage trilby this makes an easy-to-wear everyday outfit. The hat works well to dress the outfit up and I have purposefully buttoned the cardi to the top - I love the button detailing on the neck.

What do you think of this look? Do you shop vintage much?

chunky chain.

 Shirt: American Apparel
Coat: Zara
Necklace: Givenchy

Happy Christmas lovely readers! I hope you have had a lovely break... I sure did! I spent the weekend in the New Forest with my family. It was just perfect and so refreshing to get out of London. We spent our days going for long walks in the forest, getting too close to wild horses and eating much too much.

I borrowed this Givenchy necklace from a family friend (who bought it this season at Feathers in Knightsbridge). Worn under my white American Apparel shirt (under my collar), red long sleeve t-shirt from Forever 21 and my Zara coat this makes a smart day outfit.  As pointed out in my last post about my ring, the Givenchy necklace must also be worn alone as it is such a statement piece.

What do you think of the necklace?

nest in feathers.

 nest in feathers.

A couple of weeks ago I went to the ‘nest in feathers’ launch party at the beautiful Nottinghill store (they also have a branch in Knightsbridge).   This new homeware and lifestyle range has come just in time for Christmas and boy-oh-boy was it was a treat.  I’d go as far as saying a mince pie.

The pictures speak for themselves but let me draw attention to a few of my favourite pieces:

The table – apparently not originally a table. Feathers found the slab of wood and attached some chrome legs to it. How imaginative.

The coffee flask -  comes with chalk and a rubber. You can write down whatever you please on it!

Candle set – you simply pull off how ever many candles you want. I would quite like to buy the whole set and keep it as a piece itself.

Check out the feathers website here and let me know what you think!

ring ring.

Ring: H&M

This ring does more-than-well for my less-than-gorgeous hands. Let's not beat around the bush here,  they have been compared to man hands on a number of occasions (they are abnormally big for a little person!) Nonetheless, the ring helps ... dresses them up.

I found this ring in the H&M capsule collection in Selfridges, London. It is a serious statement ring and must be worn alone - no other rings and certainly no bracelets.  I love the chunky yet simple design of the main ring. The accompanying rings are simple band rings which works well with such an impressive main piece.

What are your thoughts on this bad boy?

still begging.

Check out our Digital Farm Animal acoustic cover of "beggin".
This was probably the only take where we were not in hysterics.

Thursday 8 December 2011

a little fluff.

Cardigan: H&M
Shirt: Vintage Armani
Jeggings: Primark
Socks: M&S
Shoes: Office

I found this cardigan in H&M at Selfridges, London. I was totally taken by the capsule collection which was curated by Sophie Neophitou-Apostolou - editor of 10 magazine. (FYI their first exclusice capsule collection was curated by Leigh Lezark of the Misshapes). The space is filled with simple, classic and modern pieces with a minimal colour palette of blacks, whites and creams.  Really worth visiting if you haven't already been down. Check out this video to see the H&M team working on the space prior to the launch.

Together with the cardigan I am wearing my vintage Armarni washed denim shirt with Primark jeggings and black brogues. I love the change in texture between the sleeves and body of the cardigan - the sleeves are angora while the body is wool blend.

Have you been to the H&M capsule collection in Selfridges? What do you think of it?

Wednesday 7 December 2011

gold digger.

 Jumper: Primark
Trousers: Topshop
Fur: Vintage
Wedges: Zara

First and foremost, apologies for my distinct lack of posts in the last week. My computer has been feeling very unwell and the mouse pad decided to go on strike. Barhumbug.

I found this jumper in Primark last week. I have to admit, I did have a brief moment of self congratulating when I tried it on at home. What a Iittle beauty! Worn with my peg leg Topshop trousers, Zara boots and Granny's vintage fur coat this makes a smart yet "shlumfy" outfit for work.

What do you think of my find?

texture me home.

Waistcoat: Cree
Polo Neck: Nicole Farhi
Jeans: All Saints
Boots: Urban Outfitters

Texture, texture, texure. It is everywhere! You can’t make it down the high street without spotting a faux fur coat walking past.  For me, out of all the winter trends I  find this the most difficult one to translate in to my wardrobe.  It can appear quite shapeless and bulky on a little person like me, creating an unflattering silhouette. It is important to team it with an otherwise slim fit like skinny jeans and platforms.  Today I am wearing a chunky charcoal turtle neck with my mushroom spider web waistcoat.  I have teamed them with  my skinny jeans and navy boots.

What are your thoughts on texture for this season... have you got any tips to add depth to your look without looking frumpy?

Thursday 24 November 2011

button me up.

Jumper: Jack Wills
Shirt: Gap
Jeans: Forever 21
Platform Wedges: Steve Madden

 button me up

I stumbled upon this oversized dusty pink Gap shirt in my old pa’s wardrobe. I have buttoned it right to the top and buttoned down the collar. I can’t wear shirts any other way at the moment! It seems I have massively embraced the Olly Murs meets Gav (as of Gavin and Stacey) shirt thing. The shirt is worn under my Jack Wills cat jumper (cough.. its from their menswear collection..cough) and teamed with my Forever 21 jeggings. Dressed up with Steve Madden platform wedge sandals worn with thick black socks.

What do you think of the “Murs/Gav” shirt flex?

Tuesday 22 November 2011

follow the yellow brick road.

Shoes: Vintage Rebecca Sanver

follow the yellow brick road.

I found these Rebecca Sanvers at a vintage store in Camden, North London. I was immediately drawn to the colour. I have always wanted yellow shoes and these are a fabulous  banana shade of the colour.

After finding these I decided to research a little about the designer and ethos behind the brand.  “The style/design philosophy is to dress the women’s feet for every moment of the day”. In light of this, Rebecca Sanver provides a wide range of shoe categories – she even designs bridal footwear.

The shoe speak for itself and is the statement piece in an outfit. In light of this, I will be dressing down wearing black  Topshop jeggings, an oversized American Apparel black shirt and my long length black blazer.  Perhaps a simple chain necklace to accessorise with a black clutch.

What are your thoughts on these shoesies?
