Over the past few months, I have consciously been trying to inject some colour in to my wardrobe. While muted  pastel tones in lemon, mint, dusty pinks and aquatic greens have flooded the high-street (with the seaside and under-water trends) other key colours include burnt orange and yves klein blue. Inspired by the SS12 colour palette, I picked up this top in Cos. I  have teamed the tee with some H&M black leggings and my wedges.  I particularly like the longer length sleeve and high neckline.

What are your thoughts on burnt orange? Have you seen it a lot across the high-street?

you lazy oaf.

For those of you who aren't already familiar with Lazy Oaf, you need to be! A mini-sale-inspired shopping spree last week  in their Foubert's Place store more than brightened up my day. I couldn't resist - a fiver for a t-shirt.

Lazy Oaf is known for their graphic tees in popping colours, reversible  sweaters and their array of fun accessories and graphic print cards.

Today I am sporting one of my new purchases (eek... my austerity boot camp is not going so well) with my wet-look Reiss jeans (bought a few years ago but still fit - yay) and my H&M wedges. The tee round neck comes quite low so I have worn it over my peter-pan collar shirt. Worn under my Sandro coat tucked in or out I am loving this pink tribal-inspired  tee. Must be worn with heels though - wearing a long length tee shortens my already ickle legs! These wedges serve to add that much needed height!

Rummaging through the rails in Rokit, Camden I came across this angora jumper - what a find! Today I have teamed this little beaut  with my white American Apparel shirt and Zara leather trousers. The jumper is the "wow" piece in the outfit and so doesn't need a huge amount of accessorizing. I am wearing a vintage gold chain and ring from my Granny.  I have also recently bought a burnt orange tee from Cos which I can't wait to pair under the jumper - the colours will pop!

What are your thoughts on angora? Someone once told me if you put it in the freezer it stops malting on you ... ?! Any tips?

ted rocks.

On Wednesday, I was invited to the exclusive SS12 Ted Baker preview show. The event was held at The Dairy on Wakefield Street, London.

I arrived at the venue pretty early to be greeted by the lovely people at Ted and was swiftly taken in to the VIP bloggers' lounge. Here, we were met with delicious croissants, fresh fruit, endless cups of tea and smiley faces.

The show started pretty promptly at 11.30 am. Seated on the front row (with each chair adorned with Ted fleece blankets incase we got cold!) the SS12 preview got off to a strong start. With a pastel 'at the seaside' colour palette the menswear collection was made up of stripey short-sleeve shirts, denim roll-up shorts, satchels and brogues. Colour blocking was key - with dusty pink blazers, raspberry shorts and green chinos.

Womenswear was equally inspiring with prints commonplace across the collection. Retro silhouettes were key with models wearing clinched waists and flowing Fifties skirts.  Mustard and lemon yellows were important while Yves Klein blue was also strong. I was particularly taken by the final ball-gown collection made up of floor-length dresses which were so effortlessly elegant.

After the show, each blogger was given a goody bag - filled with Ted treats including a beautiful necklace and 2012 diary.

So, all-in-all, a fabulous day at Ted Baker.

dr me martin please.

 Dr Martins: Camden Market

"You have got to be joking?" My Dad asks in front of the whole family as I walk in to the kitchen wearing my "skinhead" Dr Martin boots. "What are you doing with them?!" He continues.

It is not unusual for my Dad to ask questions about my outfit, but this time he seemed suprised with an air of genuine concern.

"Yep, they are Dr Martins and I promise I am not joining a skinhead gang any time soon Dad", I reply and quickly  change the subject onto "what are we having for lunch"...

I do see where he is coming from. For my Mum and Dad, Dr Martins are/or were strongly associated with 1970s "skinhead" violence. The DM was an important and symbolic feature of the skinhead "uniform" so to speak, which was made up of jeans  (rolled up to show the boots), braces, shirt (buttoned to the top) and a flight jacket. 

Needless to say, despite their connotations, DMs and other lace up platform boots have been key to AW10. Teamed with skinny jeans or flirty dresses construction boots has proved to be a best seller - selling out across the highstreet. I can't see many skinheads wearing DMs and leopard print leggings.

 "It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me... and I am feeling good".

It sure is. 2012 is going to be good for all of us - just you wait.  A new chapter, new page, new start. I love the new year. I enjoy compiling my list of new year's resolutions and thinking about ways I can improve myself, things I want to work towards and new goals and aspirations. Ok, enough preaching S-J - more fashion.

Today I am wearing my peg leg Topshop trousers and Zara coat  teamed with my fluffy primark jumper which cost only £6.00 - what a bargain - if I say so myself. Tucked in or out this round neck jumper adds a bit of texture to a simple workwear outfit. My Zara wedges give a little height and create the illusion - note my use of the word illusion (!) - of longer legs.

anthropologie.

A couple of Saturdays ago, I planned to spend my afternoon mooching about the King’s Road.  I don’t tend to spend much time in this part of London so thought I might make a day out of it.    This didn’t really happen... I  ended up spending my day in Anthropologie.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the brand, Anthropologie is a Philadelphia-born brand that sells women's apparel and accessories, home furnishings, gifts and decorative items.

To say Anthropologies’ visual merchandising and store design is inspiring is an understatement. It is a visual treat filled with an array of texture and colours. Above our some photos I took during my visit.
